Cinematic storytelling for refined château celebrations.
I am Sonja Kalicky. Born and raised in Paris, I grew up immersed in French culture, architecture and aesthetic refinement.
Today, I photograph weddings for international couples who choose France not only for its beauty, but for its heritage, depth and cultural resonance. Couples invite me not only to document their celebration, but to shape its visual legacy. Over the years, I have had the privilege of accompanying couples from many parts of the world.
Shaped by architectural discipline and the visual language of fashion, I approach each celebration with calm authority and artistic precision. Yet what fascinates me most are people: their gestures, their presence, their singular way of inhabiting a moment.
From historic châteaux and private estates to iconic Parisian residences, each wedding becomes a carefully composed visual narrative. Many of these celebrations unfold across an entire wedding weekend, from the welcome dinner to the final brunch. I approach each chapter with the same quiet attention and artistic coherence.
Many of these celebrations unfold within historic French châteaux — places whose architecture, light and history shape the rhythm of the celebration itself. You can explore a selection of these château weddings here.
I do not simply document a wedding.
I construct a vision
structured, embodied and fully intentional.
I accompany multi-day destination celebrations with artistic coherence and quiet direction.
From an intimate château gathering to a full wedding weekend, I ensure visual coherence from the welcome dinner to the final farewell.
Each season, I devote myself to a limited number of international celebrations, allowing complete dedication and creative focus.
Architectural foundation
Architect by training, I spent over fifteen years working in architecture and interior design before dedicating myself fully to wedding photography.
Reading a space.
Understanding proportion.
Anticipating light.
These instincts shape every frame I create.
An international perspective
My perspective has been shaped by years observing light and architecture across continents, from India to Japan, from Mongolia to the Mediterranean. These experiences do not embellish my work. They discipline it.
They allow me to approach each celebration with cultural sensitivity and aesthetic clarity.
Destination Weddings Across France
Across France, from Paris to Provence, from the Loire Valley to the French Riviera, I photograph destination celebrations shaped by the character of each place.
Selection
Each season, I accept a limited number of destination celebrations. I work with couples for whom photography is not a detail, but a central part of the experience.
Why work with me?
Because you are not simply looking for a photographer.
You are seeking a point of view. A signature.
An artistic direction built with intention, never improvised, never generic.
A composed authority capable of navigating the unexpected without compromising elegance.
A calm, grounded presence within the intensity of a complex day.
Images designed to endure beyond trends, beyond the immediacy of the moment.
Because what you desire is not documentation, but an interpretation that honours your singularity with precision and depth.
Architectural sensibility. Editorial storytelling.
Alongside the artistic direction I bring, couples often tell me they value the calm and joyful presence I carry through the day.
I move through the day at the rhythm of my couples composed when the moment requires it, fully alive when the celebration unfolds.
And when the dance floor takes over, I’m usually right there with them camera in hand and occasionally attempting my best Beyoncé impression.
Among the places that have hosted these celebrations:
